Common questions

How quickly will eating differently help with postpartum exhaustion?+

Phase 1 runs 4-8 weeks and starts with the basics: researching key postpartum nutrients like iron, omega-3s, and B vitamins, starting a food journal, and experimenting with simple nutrient-dense recipes. Most people notice energy improvements within the first few weeks as consistent nutrient intake replaces the chaotic eating that often happens with a new baby. Phase 2, over 8-12 weeks, builds a weekly meal plan and batch cooking routine specifically designed for the postpartum context.

I'm breastfeeding. Is this plan safe for that?+

The plan is built around nutrient density and adequacy, which aligns with breastfeeding needs. Phase 1 focuses on identifying key postpartum nutrients, many of which are also important for milk production. Phase 3 specifically addresses energy-boosting foods and monitoring mood and energy changes. The plan doesn't restrict calories or food groups and is designed to support recovery and energy, not weight loss. That said, Wellbody always recommends checking in with your midwife or OB about specific dietary needs during this period.

I barely have time to shower. How am I supposed to meal plan?+

Phase 2 is specifically designed for this problem. It introduces batch cooking and freezer meals, a grocery list template to reduce decision-making at the store, and systems that front-load the work so food is available when you don't have time to think. Phase 3's energy snack strategies are about having the right things accessible, not cooking elaborate meals. The whole plan is built around the reality that new parents don't have spare hours.

Is nutrition really that different postpartum, or is this just general healthy eating advice?+

Postpartum nutrition has specific priorities that general eating advice doesn't address: replenishing nutrients depleted by pregnancy and birth (like iron, folate, and DHA), supporting hormonal regulation, managing the extreme energy demands of newborn care, and in many cases, supporting milk production. Phase 1 focuses specifically on the nutrients essential for postpartum recovery, and phase 3 addresses hormonal balance as a distinct energy consideration. Wellbody's approach treats this as a distinct nutritional context, not a generic diet plan.
